Gadsby’s Tavern Museum
Friday, Sept 23rd - Sunday, Sept 25th

Join GTMS on a tour of Southwestern Virginia through the Blue Ridge Mountains in early fall where we will visit:

The Gadsby Tavern Dining Car was part of the C&O’s luxury express George Washington passenger train starting in 1932. It was originally used on other trains starting in 1922 and refurbished for the George Washington, which was the first long-distance air-conditioned train. Once at the C&O Railway Heritage Center, it was restored to its 1950 exterior and 1932 interior appearance. It is the only surviving car of the luxury rail line. Various cars of the George Washington were named after places in the first president's life. Appropriately, the George Washington was the C&O’s flagship passenger train providing service between Newport News, Virginia and Cincinnati, Ohio.

We will stay at the historic Hotel Roanoke with the opportunity to experience Roanoke with time to visit the nearby Taubman Museum of Art and the Virginia Museum of Transportation.

All proceeds will benefit the Gadsby’s Tavern Museum Society’s Endowment Fund with special contributions to the C&O Railway Heritage Center and the National D-Day Memorial. The Event Goal is to raise sufficient funds to fully fund the GTMS Endowment Fund at $100,000. Your support is needed given fundraising constraints for the last 2 years due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
