With deepest regret, we must announce that Peggy Gross, the
2012-2013 President of the Gadsby’s Tavern Museum Society passed away suddenly
on March 26th.
Peggy was an amazing woman, a quiet force who love d and was
very engaged with her wonderful Wisconsin family of six children and 20
grandchildren. She also was passionate about historic preservation and held
leadership positions in several organizations which support education and historic
resources in Alexandria. Before serving
as this year’s GTMS President, she had been a member of the GTMS Executive
Board for several year. Her outstanding organizational skills made her an asset
for both the State Department and several volunteer groups, especially GTMS. Her
knowledge of such important but arcane topics as Robert's Rules of Order,
constitution-writing, and the intricacies of applying for membership in the
Combined Federal Campaign served the Society and the Museum very well. Peggy will be sorely missed.
The family's obituary announcement can be found in the Wausau Wisconsin Daily Herald
Gadsby’s
Tavern Museum will host a Memorial Service in Peggy's honor at 2:00PM on Thursday, May 23rd.
Steve Frietas, the 2012-2013 GTMS Vice President, will take on the
remainder of Peggy’s term.
