What better day to celebrate the beginning of renovations to Gadsby's Tavern Ice Well than one where the temperature reached 99 degrees and many of the celebrants had homes too hot to stay for lack of electricity. The 50 or so folks standing and sweating at the corner of Cameron an N. Royal very much understood the delight 18th century Alexandrians must have felt when they had the opportunity to make use of the ice from Mr. Gadsby's ice well.
